The FASD Information Service of the Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse

Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Consultation, Education and Training Services, Inc.
FASCETS is a private, non-profit 501(c)3 organization Established October 1997
Services available through FASCETS are designed to increase understanding, build on strengths, expand options for developing effective parenting and professional techniques, enhance existing programs and support the development of new programs. Short term goals include increased effectiveness, reduced frustration, and attainment of improved outcomes, including burnout prevention in professionals. The long term goal of this work is to contribute to the prevention of FASD.
FASCETS supports the development of a family-centered, community-based, multidisciplinary continuum of care. This collaborative design has been found to be effective in enhancing communication among parents and professionals for their mutual benefit.
Aurora Centre Program
Provides an information and referral service for the public and professionals on how to access information, resources, expertise and services related to FAS/E. The Prevention Consultant also helps with networking among health, education, justice and social service agencies, and provides support to organizations/groups who are initiating community action to address FAS issues.

Society of Special Needs Adoptive Parents (SNAP)
SNAP is a provincial organization dedicated to assisting special needs adoptive families through mutual support, information sharing and advocacy. SNAP provides support groups and on-to-one contact resources parents throughout B.C. YWCA Crabtree Corner FAS/NAS Prevention Project
YWCA Crabtree Corner FASNAS Prevention Project offers FAS/NAS educational workshops, a resource lending library, a peer support group for moms with children with FAS/NAS and information and crisis counseling. Crabtree Comer has published posters and pamphlets as well as three guides: FAS and NAS Community Prevention Guide, Guide for Parents, Caregivers and Others Caring for Children with FAS and NAS and FAS/E and NAS Guide to Resources.

The Provincial Outreach Program for Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (POPFASD)
Established by the Ministry of Education in September 2006 to help teachers, parents and others understand the educational implications of students who may have FASD. POPFASD has developed a website to provide information and resources, including e-learning modules, for teachers and others working with students with FASD.
